You Need to Be in Your Body to Win

One of the tools I work with is a Mantra that goes like this: You have to meet people where they are before you can take them to where you want them to go.  It's the biggest mistake we make when we talk with each other.  Think about your audience first.  What do they need to hear from you?  Then, show up for the communication.  Don't squeeze it in between checking emails, voice mail and your latte.  Show up.  That shows respect and makes you far more effective as a communicator.  Be present in the moment -- meet people where they are -- that's influence.
